Bird with red-stained legs spotted near Punggol Park, ACRES informed
On Monday (18 Nov) morning, Mr Anderson Ng was making his way to Punggol Park for birdwatching when he found a bird with legs coated in red.
As he passed by a canal across the park, he spotted what he thought was a red-legged heron.
Mr Ng told MS News that he thought it was a special migratory bird due to the unusual feature and whipped out his camera to take a photo.

On a closer look, he realised that it was a local striated heron with clumps of red substance clinging to its feet.
Mr Ng could not identify what the red matter was but said it resembled paint.
He also took a photo showing the substance that had accumulated near a metal fence meant to filter out debris in the canal.

The heron had presumably stepped into it on accident.
Despite the red substance clinging to its feet, Mr Ng told MS News that the heron continued to hunt for food actively in the drain.
He has since reported the incident to the National Environment Agency (NEA) via the OneService app.
