SBS Transit bus crashes into tree in Kaki Bukit on 21 Nov
At about 11pm on Thursday (21 Nov), an SBS Transit bus crashed into a tree, killing the bus driver and injuring five passengers.
In response to MS News queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said the incident occurred at the junction of Kaki Bukit Avenue 2 and Kaki Bukit Road 1.
Driver apparently lost control of bus & crashed into large tree in Kaki Bukit
According to Shin Min Daily News, the bus crashed into a street lamp, a traffic light, and a large tree along the road.
Pictures provided to the Chinese news site showed that the bus sustained severe damage to its front — its windshield was thoroughly shattered.
58-year-old driver succumbed to injuries
Six injured victims were transported to Changi General Hospital after the accident.
In a statement to MS News, the police said that the 58-year-old male bus driver was conveyed unconscious to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The other five male passengers, aged between 26 and 38, were conscious when conveyed to the hospital.
It’s believed that the bus self-skidded at the junction of Kaki Bukit Ave 2. Police investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, an SBS Transit spokesperson confirmed that the incident involved a Service Number 137 bus.
