Dogs in Thailand watch over owner’s dead body, discovered only four days after death
In a deeply moving discovery, police in Thailand found two small dogs loyally watching over their owner’s lifeless body, four days after his death in a locked apartment.
According to Channel 3 News, the tragic scene unfolded on Saturday (28 June) in the southern province of Nakhon Si Thammarat, where the 53-year-old man had quietly passed away, with only his beloved pets for company.
Two dogs guard over owner after his death
Responding to a tip-off about a suspected death in a rented apartment, rescue workers arrived to find the unit locked from the inside. After forcing the door open, they were immediately met with a powerful stench.
Along with the odour, the workers also heard the sound of two dogs barking.

Inside, two small dogs were found leashed to a table. Next to them was the decomposing body of their owner, who lay still on a futon mattress.
The man’s remains were reportedly infested with maggots, suggesting he had been dead for several days.
Autopsy rules out foul play
A medical examiner conducted a thorough investigation and found no evidence of violence or foul play.
It’s believed the man died from natural causes, possibly related to existing health conditions.

Family mourns death
According to Thai news outlet Hone Krasae, the man’s family said he had been suffering from a hernia and diabetes for a long time.
The man, who worked as a truck driver, had moved into the small apartment with his two dogs. He had seemingly done so to rest alone with his two dogs.
His wife and daughter would often stop by to leave him food, but had lost contact with him three to four days before his body was discovered.
His family agreed with the examiner’s conclusion of no foul play, and the man’s body has been transferred to them for funeral rites.
