Off-service SBS Transit bus crashes through BKE road divider after five-vehicle accident, debris blocks four lanes
Motorists travelling along the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) were met with a startling sight on Wednesday (19 Aug) when an SBS Transit bus appeared to have crashed through the road divider.
The accident involved five vehicles and left three people injured and taken to hospital.

Passing motorcyclist shocked to see SBS Transit bus across BKE divider
According to the police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), the accident occurred at about 9am along the BKE, before the Mandai Road exit.
It involved two cars, a motorcycle, a lorry, and a bus.
TikTok user @aiyxn_, who posted a video showing the aftermath, told MS News that she passed the scene on a motorcycle at about 9.15am.
While the congestion had led her to expect an accident ahead, she was still shocked by the sight of the bus.

Her video showed the bus against the roadside barrier, with extensive damage to its front.
A tree appeared to be lodged against its bumper, while the bus was blocking two lanes of the expressway.
The TikTok user believed that the bus had crossed over from the other side of the BKE.
“We got worried and are just hoping everyone involved is okay,” she said.
Bus seen veering across divider as debris scatters onto BKE
Footage posted by SG Road Vigilante (SGRV) appeared to show how the bus ended up on the opposite side of the expressway.
In the video, the bus was seen suddenly veering to the right.

It then rammed straight through the road divider barrier and all the surrounding greenery into the other lanes.

It then crashed through the road divider and surrounding greenery before entering the lanes on the other side.
The TikTok user’s footage showed branches and other debris scattered across the carriageway in the aftermath.
A blue motorcycle could also be seen lying on its side.

Accident leaves only one of five lanes passable
The TikTok user told MS News that four of the five lanes on her side of the BKE were blocked by the accident.
Her video showed motorists slowly making their way through the sole remaining lane as they passed the wreckage and debris.

Meanwhile, footage shared on Telegram showed the other side of the expressway, where the bus had apparently come from.
A silver car had spun around and was facing against the flow of traffic.
It and a black lorry had come to a stop on either side of a smaller car, which had sustained extensive damage to its rear.

SBS Transit reaching out to injured motorists
The police told MS News that SCDF personnel conveyed a 58-year-old male car driver, a 54-year-old male motorcyclist, and a 57-year-old bus driver to hospital. All three were conscious.
Police added that the bus driver is assisting with investigations.
SBS Transit spokesperson Grace Wu told MS News that the accident involved an off-service bus operating on Service 170, and confirmed that the injured bus captain had been taken to hospital.
“Two other motorists were also conveyed to hospital. We are already in touch with one of them and will be rendering him care and assistance, while we are trying to get in touch with the other motorist,” she said.

SBS Transit also apologised for the inconvenience caused to motorists affected by the accident.
