Exhausted drug courier found asleep in running car with 42,000 meth pills and gun
A 39-year-old man was arrested in Kalasin, Thailand, after he was found sleeping inside a running car at a car wash, where police later discovered 42,000 methamphetamine pills and a handgun.
The incident happened at around 12.30am on Monday (7 Sept) at a car wash along Pracha Uthit Road in Mueang Kalasin District.
Man found unresponsive in running vehicle
Police were alerted after members of the public noticed an unresponsive man sitting inside a grey Toyota Yaris with the engine still running.
They then contacted the authorities through the emergency hotline.

When officers arrived, they repeatedly knocked on the vehicle before the driver, identified as Ekaphon (name transliterated from Thai), 39, woke up in a confused state.
Drugs discovered in car and hotel room
Police searched the vehicle and found 12,000 methamphetamine pills inside a shoulder bag.
They also recovered a modified 9mm handgun and ammunition near the driver’s seat.

A follow-up search of the suspect’s hotel room uncovered another 30,000 meth pills, bringing the total seizure to 42,000 tablets.
During questioning, Ekaphon allegedly admitted to working as a drug courier.
He told police he was paid 70,000 baht (around S$2,690) to collect drugs from a trafficking network linked to Laos and distribute them across several north-eastern provinces.

He also claimed he had been driving continuously for seven days to deliver the drugs without proper rest, causing him to fall asleep from exhaustion at the car wash.
Kalasin authorities said the suspect had been taken into custody at Mueang Kalasin Police Station as investigations continued into possible links to a larger drug network.
Provincial officials also urged residents to report suspicious activity via hotlines, assuring them that all information would remain confidential.
