North region of S’pore enters ‘unhealthy’ range at 1am on 15 Sept
The air quality across the whole of Singapore is now in the “unhealthy” range, with the north region joining the rest of the island early on Tuesday (15 Sept) morning.
At 1am, the previously less affected north region entered the “unhealthy” range with a 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) reading of 102.
S’pore plagued by ‘unhealthy’ air quality since 4 Sept
Singapore has been plagued by haze for more than a week, with the air quality entering the “unhealthy” range on 4 Sept for the first time since October 2023.
The “unhealthy” range is a PSI of 101 to 200, while PSI readings of 51 to 100 are considered “moderate”.
Since 4 Sept, the central region has seen the worst air quality, hitting a previous peak of 123 PSI on the night of 4 Sept.
The east and west regions ventured into the “unhealthy” range occasionally, but the south and north regions remained in the “moderate” range.

That is, until Monday (14 Sept), when the south region entered the “unhealthy” range at 10pm, after the central, east and west regions had done so earlier that day.

The poor air quality carried over to Tuesday morning, when the north region entered the “unhealthy” range for the first time.

As of 4am, all five regions are in the “unhealthy” range, with the highest PSI of 153 recorded in the central region — closer to the “very unhealthy” range than to the “moderate range”.

The PSI is still climbing in all regions as of the time of writing.
If the PSI goes above 200, the air quality will enter the “very unhealthy” range.
Air quality forecast to be in ‘mid-unhealthy’ range on 15 Sept
In its daily haze advisory, NEA said on Monday afternoon that “moderate to dense” smoke plumes continued to be detected from fires in Kalimantan.
Dry conditions should persist over Singapore and the surrounding region in the coming days, NEA added.
Thus, haze will likely continue to affect Singapore, especially with the winds forecast to blow from the southeast to the east-southeast.
It also predicted that the PSI would be in the “high moderate” to “mid-unhealthy” range.
