LTA catches 6 drivers allegedly providing illegal ride-hailing services
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) caught six drivers for allegedly providing illegal cross-border ride-hailing services in Singapore.
Authorities also impounded all their vehicles.
In a Facebook post on Thursday (17 Sept), LTA said it caught the drivers at land checkpoints, Changi Airport, and Yew Tee.

The agency stated it maintained strict enforcement against illegal cross-border ride-hailing services by acting on regular tip-offs from local driver associations.
Offenders face fines, imprisonment, or both
Under Singapore regulations, drivers providing illegal ride-hailing services face fines of up to S$3,000, up to six months’ imprisonment, or both.
Their vehicles may also be forfeited.

On 26 Aug, authorities caught eight drivers for a similar offence at land checkpoints and in the Changi area.
Weeks earlier, on 4 Aug, authorities also caught 11 drivers and impounded their vehicles.
LTA reminded commuters to only use licensed cross-border ride-hailing services on Grab or Singapore-registered cross-border taxis when travelling between Singapore and Johor Bahru, Iskandar Puteri, Forest City, Kulai and Senai.
