Man who allegedly threw rock at Police Cantonment Complex believed to have been drunk
A 44-year-old man was charged with vandalism after allegedly throwing a rock twice at the glass door of Police Cantonment Complex.
He was believed to have been drunk, said the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in a news release on Wednesday (16 Sept).

Rock allegedly thrown by man causes door to shatter
On Tuesday (15 Sept), the man allegedly threw a rock at the main entrance of the police complex located at the junction of New Bridge Road and Cantonment Road.
The police were alerted at about 10.55pm that night, and responding officers immediately arrested the man.
The rock, which weighed approximately 500g, was seized as evidence, SPF said.

According to preliminary investigations, the man allegedly threw the same rock at the glass door twice.
This caused the door to shatter.

Man charged with vandalism
On Thursday (17 Sept), the man was charged in court with the offence of vandalism under Section 3 of the Vandalism Act 1966.
He was identified by The Straits Times (ST) as Saravanan Arulanandan Pillay. He appeared at the State Courts at 8.45am, according to a hearing list from SG Courts.

He was remanded at the Institute of Mental Health for a medical examination, with his case adjourned till 1 Oct.
If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to three years or a fine of up to S$2,000, and also between three and eight strokes of the cane.
SPF said it has “zero tolerance” for vandalism and “will not hesitate” to take action against those who “blatantly disregard the law”.
