Elderly Thai woman travels across provinces to meet new boyfriend, learns he was created by artificial intelligence (AI)
A 66-year-old woman in Northern Thailand crossed provincial borders to seek out a lover she had met online.
Unfortunately, she only discovered that she had been misled and that her paramour, whom she believed was a pilot, was actually an artificial intelligence (AI) creation after authorities stepped in.
According to Matichon, authorities became aware of the situation at around 8pm on Wednesday (16 Sept).
Travelled far to meet new lover
After approaching her, they discovered that the 66-year-old had travelled from Lampang province to Chiang Mai.
She told them she had travelled to the airport to meet a man she had met online named Chai.

The woman had taken the bus near her home before taking a tuk-tuk to get to the airport. Authorities initially had trouble communicating with the woman as she spoke in her hill tribe language.
However, when she showed a picture of him to authorities, they quickly deduced that he was an AI creation.
Police help her get home
Following this revelation, police offered her shelter and food as they got in touch with her son. He informed them that he was not aware that she had left the area.

The following morning, authorities escorted the 66-year-old to the bus terminal where they helped her get a ticket home. Her son then took her home.
