It’s reported that the newborn was initially quiet but began crying after being touched.

The mother was allegedly not at the scene when rescuers arrived.

Mother found exhausted inside mall restroom

The woman, identified as Atittiya (name transliterated from Thai) from Bangkok, was later found inside a ground-floor restroom.

She appeared exhausted after giving birth and had disposed of the placenta in a rubbish bin.

After providing first aid, rescuers rushed both mother and baby to Pattaya City Hospital.

Doctors confirmed that the baby girl weighed 1.6kg. Both mother and child were reported to be in stable condition but remained under medical observation.

The mother was also treated for severe fatigue and postpartum bleeding.

Witness said birth happened suddenly

A 30-year-old motorcycle taxi driver, Suchat (name transliterated from Thai), said he saw the woman sitting outside the mall before she moved toward the fence near a dinosaur display.

He said she appeared to be in labour before the baby was delivered onto the pavement.

Nearby bystanders then helped to wrap the newborn in cloth to keep her warm and contacted emergency services, while the mother walked away towards the mall restroom.

Ms Atittiya told officers that it was her third pregnancy and that she was around seven to eight months pregnant.

She added that she experienced sudden abdominal pain while resting outside the mall and unexpectedly gave birth while standing.

She then panicked, went to the restroom to clean herself, and was found there.
