2 people self-evacuate from fire in Hougang landed property, no injuries reported
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) put out a fire that broke out at a landed property in Hougang on Saturday (3 Oct) evening, it said.
Footage of the incident posted by @sgfollowsall on Telegram showed a large amount of smoke coming from the semi-detached house along Park Villas Green.

Fire seen on ground floor of Hougang landed property
In the video, which was taken from the adjacent Terrasse condominium, flames could be seen in the ground floor of the affected house.

SCDF firefighters had connected hoses through the condo premises in a bid to put out the fire, with a firefighter spotted spraying water from a hose.

At least one fire engine was parked outside the property.

Smoke seen from Hougang condo
Another TikTok video taken from the condo showed that the plume of smoke was large enough to be seen from the pool area.

This caused several children to retreat from the pool.
The flames could also be seen from the condo premises, according to a photo shared by the original poster (OP).

Residents hear explosion, see thick smoke
Nearby residents told AsiaOne they heard what appeared to be an explosion at 6.30pm that evening.
One of the neighbours said the fire started on the first floor and was “quite big”, meaning it was difficult for residents to help put it out.
Another neighbour in his 40s, who lives in the apartment complex, said he saw thick black smoke coming from the house that reached the treeline level.
Fire involved items on ground floor of landed property
In response to queries from MS News, SCDF said it was alerted to the fire along Park Villas Green at about 6.20pm on 3 Oct.
When firefighters arrived, black smoke was coming out of a three-storey house.
The fire involved items on the ground floor of the house, and was extinguished by SCDF using three water jets.
Damping down — i.e. the application of water to cool down surfaces and prevent the fire from rekindling — of the affected area is ongoing.
Two people who were in the house self-evacuated before SCDF arrived.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
