Singapore Dad Says He Was Asked To Leave Woodlands Clinic Because Doctor Was Distracted By Child’s Cries
Seeing that their 2-year-old daughter was running a fever, a pair of parents brought their daughter to a clinic in Woodlands.
Due to her discomfort, the child couldn’t stop crying.
After 30 minutes of waiting, they were allegedly asked to leave the clinic, as the doctor was distracted by the loud wailing.
The doctor later denied saying this, according to Lianhe Zaobao on Thursday (2 Jan).
Brought their daughter to a Woodlands clinic
On Tuesday (31 Dec 2019) evening, Lianhe Zaobao reports that Mr Liang and his wife took their daughter – who was having a 39°C fever, runny nose, and cough – to a clinic in Woodlands.
They were also accompanied by their 4-year-old daughter.
Given the discomfort she was in, the 2-year-old girl couldn’t help but bawl loudly while waiting to see the doctor.

Spent 30 minutes waiting for the doctor
After waiting for about 30 minutes, a nurse reportedly told them to leave. Perplexed, Mr Liang sought to clarify the situation with the nurse.
Just then, the doctor reportedly came out of the room and asked them to seek medical treatment at another clinic, claiming that the child’s cries were causing him to lose focus.
Mr Liang and his wife were shook, and tried explaining the predicament that they were in.
The nurses at the Woodlands clinic apologised profusely to the family, but the doctor remained silent, presumably tending to another patient in his room.
Worried that other clinics might close early on New Year’s Eve, the family left for another clinic.
Doctor claims it was a misunderstanding
On Thursday (2 Jan), the doctor – Mr Liu – clarified the situation, claiming that he did not issue such an order, as per his statement in Lianhe Zaobao.
He explained that the 2-year-old child and her older sister were both crying. Hence, he allegedly told the nurse to have them wait outside the clinic so they would not disturb the other patients.

However, the nurse apparently misunderstood him and thought he wanted the family to leave.
Seeing that the parents were worked up and questioning the staff, the doctor allegedly asked them if they wanted to visit another clinic instead.
Hope the daughter has recovered from the fever
Regardless of what happened, we hoped that Mr Liang’s daughter has recovered from the high fever.
That said, do you think it’s fair for the doctor to have them wait outside the clinic in view of the crying child?
