Glenn Yong stars in Grab micro-drama ‘I Fell in Love with My Grab Driver’ as a mysterious driver with a secret
If your week already involves juggling work deadlines, a child sitting for PSLE, another going through a rebellious phase, and a parent with regular medical check-ups to attend, the last thing you probably need is a mysterious handsome man complicating your life further.
For Emily, that is exactly what happens to her in Grab’s 12-episode micro-drama, ‘I Fell in Love with My Grab Driver’.

Described as a fun, fast-paced take on life for Singapore’s “sandwich generation”, the series embraces all the hallmarks of a bingeable rom-com: cheesy romance, a hidden identity, a love triangle, heightened family drama, and plenty of twists along the way.
One spilled dinner kicks off a very dramatic romance
In ‘I Fell in Love with My Grab Driver’, model-actress Regina Lim stars as Emily, an overworked single mum already close to being crushed under the weight of family duties and job pressures when she crosses paths with dashing Grab driver Henry, played by Glenn Yong.

Their meet-cute is far from squeal-worthy, though. During a ride, Emily accidentally spills dinner all over herself and his car, but instead of getting mad, Henry later reappears on her doorstep with her food order, sparking a clash that gradually turns into chemistry.
He soon earns more brownie points by delivering Emily’s GrabMart order, and even bringing her toilet paper, after overhearing just how stressful things are at home.

Of course, an unexpected romantic entanglement is only one of Emily’s problems. Between family pressures and a difficult situation at work, her life quickly becomes even messier.
And while Henry increasingly seems like one of the few people making things easier, there is far more to him than meets the eye.
The drama is OTT, but Emily’s juggling act is much more familiar
While many of the elements in ‘I Fell in Love with My Grab Driver’ firmly belong in soap opera territory, the situation underneath all that drama is much more grounded.
The series was created around Singapore’s sandwich generation, referring to the middle-class adults who are simultaneously caring for ageing parents and growing children while managing their own careers.

Emily effectively spends the series acting as her family’s operations department, making sure her mother gets to appointments, keeping tabs on her kids, ensuring everyone is fed, and dealing with crises, a balancing act that may feel all too familiar to some.
The project also hit closer to home for Yong than viewers might expect. In an Instagram post about the series, he shared that his father is actually a Grab driver, so stepping into the role of one himself felt particularly meaningful.
“It was also a small way for me to pay homage to him,” he wrote.

Yong added that he hopes his work can bring people “a little bit of joy, comfort and entertainment”, and that if something he is part of can make someone’s day feel lighter, “that’s honestly the best gift”.
Beyond the romance, he sees the drama as a story about family, relationships, and the pressures faced by the sandwich generation, wrapped in what he called some “cheesy and lighthearted microdrama fun” that he also described as “really heartwarming and cute”.
