As the Wuhan virus continues to spread around the world, more staff are being mobilised to be stationed at key strategic areas from which potential patients enter Singapore.

On Thursday (30 Jan), TODAY reports that healthcare companies are actively recruiting hundreds of temporary temperature screeners, paying up to $32 per hour for these in-demand positions.

Companies seeking temperature screeners

According to Parkway Shenton’s CEO, more than 260 healthcare assistants are needed daily to detect suspected coronavirus cases at Singapore’s checkpoints, guardhouses, and lobbies.

The groups of people will help to man stations at key locations and help to take temperatures.

One Facebook post dated 26 Jan claims Changi Airport needs 500 Healthcare assistants urgently. They will receive $12 per hour for the day shift and $16 per hour for the night shift.

300 health care assistants are also needed at Tuas Checkpoint. The position offers $8.50 per hour.

Foreign recruitment firms are also advertising the position. This job post offers a basic salary of $450 and an outstay accommodation allowance of $300.

Beware of fake job listings

According to TODAY, there are also fake job listings recruiting for Changi Airport healthcare assistants with an hourly pay of $33 and $48 making rounds on WhatsApp. Raffles Medical Group has since debunked claiming it was “doctored” and “inaccurate”.

Job seekers are advised to determine the legitimacy of the job and the credibility of their potential employers before accepting an offer.

Businesses are also ramping up efforts to hire temperature screeners.
