Migrant workers visit Museum of Ice Cream on all-expenses-paid trip
Migrant workers from the Westlite Mandai dormitory had recently visited Singapore’s Museum of Ice Cream on an all-expenses-paid trip.
A TikTok video showed pictures of the workers enjoying their day out at the popular tourist spot, which tugged at the hearts of many online.
The outing was part of Westlite’s Resi-Life program which focuses on the overall wellbeing of migrant workers across Singapore.
Workers visit Museum of Ice Cream
On Saturday (6 July), Westlite Mandai shared a series of heartwarming photos on TikTok, showing the migrant workers’ fun-filled day out in Singapore.
The Museum of Ice Cream is known for its pink-painted interior, ice-cream-themed exhibits, and retro-inspired diner.
The group was seen interacting with the many attractions at the museum, including the attraction’s bouncy castle.
One worker was spotted relaxing in the museum’s Sprinkle Pool.
Fully immersing themselves in the world of ice cream, the workers also enjoyed the cold desserts to round off their day out.
Many TikTok users gushed over the heartening photos. One netizen could not help the cuteness of the images.
Another commented about the day out as the workers going “out with the boys”.
Even the Museum of Ice Cream TikTok page commented on the images.
Outing organised by dormitory company
Centurion Corporation, which manages Westlite Mandai and eight other Westlite Accommodation dormitories across Singapore, told MS News that the excursion was one of Westlite’s Resi-Life events.
These events are organised regularly for the migrant worker residents of Westlite Accommodation dormitories.
The particular trip to the Museum of Ice Cream was organised on 28 April this year, in lieu of Labour Day on 1 May.
The tickets to the museum, as well as the lunch after the excursion and travel to and from the museum, were fully paid for by Westlite.
A spokesperson for Centurion Corporation told MS News that such Resi-Life events are tailored to focus on the “physical, social and mental wellbeing” of migrant workers living in Westlite accommodations.
“Our migrant workers work under harsh weather condition, and during the month of April, Singapore is experiencing heatwave, so we thought this place is good for them to enjoy their day somewhere cool and enjoy unlimited servings of ice cream,” they said.
The Museum of Ice Cream was also chosen as the workers were able to snap nice photos to show their families back home.
