Buddhist statue survives fire that burnt down house in Thailand
A family of three in Thailand recently lost their entire home to a raging fire, save for their Buddhist statue that somehow remained untouched.
According to Khaosod, the fire occurred at around 5pm on Thursday (17 Oct) in the Buriram province.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they found a two-storey house engulfed in flames. The building was reportedly half concrete and half wood.
Firefighters were able to put out the flames after around an hour, preventing the fire from spreading to nearby houses.
Unfortunately, almost everything within the house was severely damaged by the inferno.
Images of the aftermath showed that the house had been burnt to its bones, with charred beams and collapsed roofing on the black floors.

However, within the wreckage, a Buddhist statue remained perched on one of the beams, seemingly unscathed.

Its survival amazed both the authorities and locals.
That said, the homeowners are still in shock over the loss of their house — because despite their statue surviving, almost nothing else had.
One of the residents, a 64-year-old woman, said the family had been out that afternoon.
They had rushed home after getting a call notifying them of the fire, only to find the remains of their house.
After a preliminary investigation, authorities suspect that the fire had been caused by an electrical malfunction.
