Mixed rice stall owner criticised for using one spoon to taste different dishes
A video showing a mixed rice stall owner in Malaysia using the same spoon to taste multiple dishes has caught the attention of netizens, many of whom have criticised the lack of hygiene.

Uploaded on Wednesday (6 Nov), the video quickly went viral, racking up over 300,000 views and 1,800 shares.
In the wake of the backlash, the owner apologised and assured the public that it wouldn’t happen again.
While some netizens accepted the apology, others remained critical of the incident.
Unhygienic video sparks outrage
The video, filmed at the New Kluang Food Station in Johor, shows the owner tasting various dishes with the same spoon.
At the start, he uses the spoon to sample one dish, seemingly to check its quality.
He then proceeds to taste at least five other dishes, all with the same spoon, without changing it between tastings or using a ladle.

The recording lasts for one minute and 20 seconds, and in that time, the owner uses the same spoon for at least six different dishes.
Many viewers expressed outrage at his apparent disregard for basic hygiene, with some highlighting concerns about food safety from such practices.
Owner apologises for actions
On the same day, the owner took to Facebook to issue a public apology for his actions.
He expressed regret for any discomfort caused, admitting that he had made a mistake that no stall owner should make.
The owner promised to reflect on the incident and take hygiene standards more seriously going forward.
He also asked for forgiveness and a second chance, acknowledging that he had let down his supporters and customers.
In response to his apology, reactions from netizens have been mixed.
Some were moved by his genuine admission of fault and offered their continued support for the stall.

Others pointed out that he was simply trying to make a living and hadn’t committed an unforgivable offence.

However, some netizens remain unconvinced, claiming the owner only apologised because he was caught red-handed in the video.
