Father in Thailand gifts daughter shiny purple tuk tuk
A daughter in Thailand who asked her dad for a car got a surprise twist when he delivered… a tuk tuk.
She and a friend couldn’t hold back their reactions when they discovered said vehicle waiting for her in the garage, capturing the moment in a TikTok that has now racked up more than 700,000 views since it was posted late last week.

According to Thairath, the daughter had asked her dad for a car back in high school, hoping to drive herself to university.
True to his thoughtful nature, her dad not only remembered the request, but also delivered a gift she won’t forget anytime soon.
In the TikTok video, the daughter shared that her dad specifically chose the purple tuk tuk because it was the perfect fit for her.
“It suits you,” he told her.
Names car after Thai rum
Unable to contain her amusement, the girl eagerly showed the tuk tuk to her friend.
After a good laugh, her friend asked what she had named her new purple ride.
“Sang Som,” she replied, before both burst into giggles. The name, for those unfamiliar, is a popular Thai rum.
The girl even gave her friend a tour of her new wheels, showcasing the tuk tuk’s quirky features.
Sadly, the passenger bell — used to signal the driver when a passenger wants to get off — was out of order.
Netizens equally entertained
The video sparked a wave of laughter across the internet.
Some viewers instantly recognised the tuk tuk as being from Ayutthaya, a fact the girl confirmed.
One commenter pointed out that these tuk tuks could go for over 100,000 baht (S$3,850), but the girl cheekily shared that her dad, knowing the previous owner, managed to haggle it down to just half the price.
Another keen-eyed viewer noticed the tuk tuk still had a yellow licence plate, which, in Thailand, is reserved for taxis.
In a follow-up post, the girl responded to a comment requesting a video of her rolling into university with her new set of wheels.
She replied: “I don’t even know how to drive yet.”
Instead, the clip featured her dad proudly driving Sang Som out of their home, flaunting its glorious purple paint job as the sun beamed down.
