Polite thief said he’ll be taking bird cages before stealing them from restaurant in Thailand
A thief was caught on camera politely saying “I’m taking this” before stealing a pair of bird cages from a restaurant in Thailand.
According to footage shared by the restaurant owner, the theft took place just before dawn on Monday (25 Nov).
Owners discover confusing theft
At around 3:50am, a man walked up to the closed restaurant to admire the bird cages the owner had put up for decoration.
Seemingly enamoured with them, the man then audibly and politely said that he’d be taking the bird cages. He then did exactly as he claimed.
When the owner showed up that morning, she discovered that two of her bird cages had been stolen. This prompted her to review the security footage where she discovered the theft.
Posting on Facebook, the owner asked local residents to contact her if they knew who the man was. She added that he showed up to the restaurant on a bicycle.
One bird cage remaining
In an interview with Thairath reporters, the owner further elaborated on the thief’s bizarre actions.
She said he picked up one of the cages to observe it more closely before putting it back, only to later take it again.
When asked by reporters whether there were any birds in the cages, the owner said there weren’t. The restaurant had put up the bird cages as decoration to complement their rustic décor.
She added that the restaurant still had one more bird cage remaining, but that it was made of metal.
Despite the thief taking relatively cheap items, the owner said she’ll be filing a police report and making sure that he faces the full consequences of his actions.
She said that although he only took inexpensive bird cages this time, he displayed callousness in his thievery. She fears next time, he might end up stealing something much more valuable.
