Duo in India narrowly escapes gas explosion, attempted to fix gas leak

CCTV footage has emerged showing a man and woman in India narrowly escaping a gas explosion caused by a leak from a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinder.

The timestamp in the footage indicated that the incident occurred on 18 June, while the exact location is unclear.

In the clip, a woman can be seen frantically dragging a gas cylinder towards an open door, presumably attempting to move it outside.

As she approached the door, she abandoned the hose attached to the cylinder — which appears to be spewing a white gas — before rushing outside.

The leak persisted for about two minutes before stopping abruptly, leaving the house filled with gas fumes.

Man and woman attempt to turn off gas valve

When the woman returned, she and another man started attempting to turn off the gas valve.

However, as they were fiddling with the cylinder, a sudden spark flashed beneath the kitchen counter in the room behind them.

Fortunately, the duo escaped without injury.

According to The Economic Times, experts noted that the open doors and windows allowed gas to disperse, preventing a larger explosion.

It is believed that the stove was the source of ignition.
