Man’s arm crushed into three pieces following truck accident with another vehicle
A man in China had his right arm crushed by a vehicle after accidentally sticking it out of a truck window while sleeping.
His arm was crushed so badly in the accident that it broke into three parts, with only a small strip of skin keeping it attached, reported China’s Jimu News.
Truck accidentally hits larger vehicle, leading to injury
The incident occurred around 3pm on 28 Aug when the man and his colleague were returning from work.
His colleague was driving a small truck while the man was seated in its front passenger seat.
Exhausted from work, the man fell asleep. In his sleep, he unknowingly stretched his right arm outside the window.

According to his colleague, the hot weather has caused him to momentarily wipe sweat from his forehead.
This slight distraction led the truck to scrape against a larger vehicle travelling alongside them.
Arm broken into three pieces
“At the moment of impact, I quickly turned the steering wheel, but the man’s right arm was sticking out and got crushed by the other truck’s left rear bumper,” his colleague explained.
As a result, the man’s right arm was broken into three pieces, with only a few centimetres of skin tissue connecting the broken parts.
The man was left terrified and in excruciating pain.
“After the collision, I felt intense pain and numbness in my arm. There was just a small piece of skin left holding it together,” he said.
Doctors reattach arm in four-hour surgery
Fortunately, the man received prompt medical attention and underwent a four-hour surgery.

The doctors successfully reattached his arm, restoring blood flow and reducing the risk of muscle death.
“The surgery took about four hours, but we successfully reattached the arm, and it’s now ‘alive’,” the surgeon commented.
