Woman claims husband was abusive

The woman later surrendered to police. She was identified as 42-year-old Aree, and the victim as 38-year-old Aphisit.

Aree allegedly told investigators that she and Aphisit had lived together for about eight months after her first husband died and she received a life-insurance payout. Aphisit was reportedly a friend of her late husband.

During their relationship, Aree claimed that Aphisit drank heavily, verbally abused her, and had a violent temper.

She also alleged that she had spent about 1 million baht (around S$36,900) on him. However, when her money ran out, Aree claimed Aphisit began distancing himself from her, ignoring her calls, and staying away from home.

On the day of the incident, Aree allegedly lay in wait for Aphisit. When she spotted him riding his motorcycle, she gave chase and deliberately rammed into him as he tried to flee.

Aphisit’s sister also told police that the couple often quarrelled, likely over money and jealousy. She alleged that Aree had previously threatened to kill Aphisit and had once chased him with a knife.

According to her, Aphisit had wanted to end the relationship, but Aree refused to let him go.

Police said the case remains under investigation.
