Bodies of man & woman found inside locked car in Bangkok

A couple was found dead inside a car in Bangkok after residents noticed it had sat idle for many hours.

Reports indicate the man was lying half-naked and wearing a condom, whereas the woman’s short-sleeved shirt was unfastened, exposing her bra.

Their bodies have been sent to a hospital for an autopsy to establish the exact cause of death.

With every door locked firmly from the inside, rescue workers had to pry the vehicle open before investigators could step in to examine the scene.

Victims found dead with foam in their mouths

Inside the vehicle, the man, identified as 45-year-old Watcharapol (name transliterated from Thai), was discovered in the reclined driver’s seat, naked from the waist down.

The woman, identified as 27-year-old Patcharin (name transliterated from Thai), was found in the fully reclined front passenger seat.

Both victims had foam or saliva around their mouths.

No signs of physical assault were found.

Police suspected sexual activity before their deaths

Investigators found condom wrappers, hormone supplements, allergy medication, a fuel receipt, and personal care products scattered inside the vehicle.

The keys were still left in the ignition, and the vehicle’s air conditioning was found to be switched on.

CCTV footage revealed that the vehicle arrived in the alley at around 2.04am on Saturday.

In their initial observation, authorities suspect the couple had been engaging in sexual activity before they died.

Resident found vehicle had been parked for several hours

A 68-year-old resident, Jamras (name transliterated from Thai), recounted that at around 3am on Saturday (4 July), he noticed the victims’ sedan parked in the alley with the engine still running.

Trying to clear a path to drive his car out, Mr Jamras knocked on the window to ask them to move, but there was no reply.

Thinking the occupants were fast asleep, he drove away.

However, when he returned at around 5am, he saw the sedan still parked in the same spot, but the engine had been turned off, so he went back inside his house.

Bodies found in late morning, leading to police call

It wasn’t until around 10am that he went out to check again and found the sedan still parked in the same location.

Feeling suspicious because there was no response no matter how much he called out, and noting that the car was locked from the inside with a sunshade neatly placed on the windshield, he went to gather other residents to help investigate.

They then discovered the couple lying unconscious, foaming at the mouth, prompting them to contact the police.

Female victim allegedly planned to join friend’s birthday party

The female victim’s 22-year-old younger brother, Sarawut (name transliterated from Thai), shared that his sister worked as a swimwear sales assistant.

He recalled that after coming home late from work, she mentioned a friend was picking her up for a birthday party before she left the house around 2am.

While he knew his sister had been talking to a man, he had never seen the driver’s face before and preferred not to pry into her personal life.

He added that the car in question was parked 30 metres from his residence.

Authorities suspect carbon monoxide inhalation

Police believed the couple had already been dead by the time Mr Jamras knocked on their car window.

It is estimated that the pair lost their lives about 90 minutes after first parking the vehicle.

Doctors preliminarily suspect that the couple inhaled an excessive amount of carbon monoxide.

However, police also recovered a Yeti tumbler at the scene, which will undergo testing to check if the water inside had been laced with any substances.

They also fear couple had suffocated to death inside locked car

Another theory suggests the vehicle was overheating, as the hood was found slightly propped open to vent heat, and that the engine may have eventually stalled on its own.

It is feared that the couple fell asleep from exhaustion after their intimate encounter, ultimately suffocating to death inside the locked car.

The bodies of both victims have been sent to Siriraj Hospital for post-mortem examinations to determine the cause of their deaths.
