Lost young girl’s abstract portrait of mother helps police locate her family
A seven-year-old girl in China helped police reunite her with her family after drawing a simple sketch of her mother.
The incident happened at around noon on 25 July in Xucheng Subdistrict, Xuwen County, Guangdong Province.
A resident spotted the girl wandering alone along Minzhu Road and brought her to the Xucheng Police Station after suspecting she was lost.
Girl leaves home to find mother
According to China Blue News, the girl had been left at home while her parents were away.
Feeling bored, she decided to leave the house to visit a classmate but lost her way.

When officers asked why she was outside alone, the girl calmly replied: “To look for my mom.”
However, she was unable to provide useful information such as her mother’s name, phone number, or address.
Child draws mother to help police
The girl then suggested to the police: “I can draw my mom for you.”
After being handed a pen and paper, she quickly drew a minimalist portrait of her mother, which amused the officers.

When they asked whether she was a local, the girl reportedly replied: “I’m not a local, I’m Chinese!”
Despite her childish answers, officers suspected that her home was near the area where she was found and that her parents might be street vendors at a nearby market.
Police finds mother within an hour
Officers brought the girl along in a police vehicle and asked her to identify familiar locations while speaking with residents and shopkeepers.

Within an hour, they found her mother on Dongfang 1st Road in Xucheng Subdistrict.
Before returning the girl, officers reminded her parents to strengthen supervision of their child and take precautions to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
