Cattle roam on busy road after escaping barn
Four Korean cattle caused a stir after escaping from a barn in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province, South Korea, and wandering onto a busy road on Tuesday (15 Sept).
The animals — mother cow and three calves — reportedly escaped from a livestock barn at around 2.15pm.
Emergency services were alerted after motorists spotted the cows roaming freely along the highway.
Cows weaved between cars on busy road
According to Maeil Business, the cows weaved through vehicles after entering a high-traffic road heading towards the army training centre in Yeonmu-eup town.
Some calves ran on the highway and even made stops at a roadside restaurant to catch their breath.

Drivers slowed down and turned on hazard lights to prevent collisions upon encountering the loose livestock on the roadway.
Firefighters, police officers and the cattle owner arrived at the scene and partially controlled traffic to prevent accidents.
They then used rescue vehicles to narrow the animals’ escape route.
Eventually, they herded the mother cow and two calves onto a quieter road at the entrace of a nearby village entrance before securing them.
Authorities failed to capture one calf
The authorities were unable to capture one other calf.

According to Yonhap News, a rescue official said the remaining animal appeared to have moved away from the road and disappeared.
However, they noted that no injuries to the cattle or traffic accidents linked to the escape have been reported.
Fire authorities then launched a search for the missing calf as well as an investigation on how the animals escaped the barn.
