Thai woman murdered by her boyfriend at hotel after argument
A 43-year-old Taiwanese man has been arrested on suspicion of strangling his Thai girlfriend to death and hiding her body in a freezer at his workplace in Taichung.
The victim was found on Saturday (19 Sept) after her Taiwanese friends reported her missing on Friday (18 Sept).
She failed to return home as scheduled
The victim, a 36-year-old Thai woman identified as Ah Si (name transliterated from Mandarin), travelled to Taiwan on 2 Sept to meet her boyfriend, a man surnamed Wu.

Her family became concerned after she failed to return to Thailand as planned on 14 Sept and also stopped responding to messages.
They contacted her friends in Taiwan, who then reported her missing to the police.
CCTV showed boyfriend leaving hotel with large suitcase
Officers from Taipei’s Wanhua Police District reviewed surveillance footage from the hotel where Ah Si was staying in the Ximending area.
The footage allegedly showed Wu entering her hotel room on the night of 12 Sept and leaving in the early hours of 13 Sept while pulling a large suitcase.

According to police, the suspect loaded the suitcase into his vehicle’s boot and drove to Taichung to report for his administrative job at a technology company.
Police eventually arrested Wu on Friday night (18 Sept) on suspicion of criminal activity.
During the questioning, he confessed to killing his girlfriend inside a hotel room after an argument over her decision to end their relationship.
He said they had been in a relationship for about a year and had also travelled between Taiwan and Thailand to meet each other.
Boyfriend allegedly hid body at workplace
He said he had strangled her during the dispute before placing her body inside a 30-inch suitcase and transporting it to his company’s facility in Taichung.

Police escorted Wu back to the workplace at around 1am on Saturday (19 Sept), where officers reportedly found Ah Si’s body inside an industrial freezer.
Wu informed interrogators that because he worked in administrative and logistics operations for a technology firm, he had direct access to a commercial freezer leased by his company and used it to hide the victim’s remains.
Suspect to face homicide charges
Officers transferred Wu back to Taipei, handing him over to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office for formal prosecution on charges of homicide.

Local media citing the police reported that the suspect bought the freezer and suitcase in early September after meeting the woman in Thailand a year ago.
The police are investigating the case, including whether the murder was premeditated.
