Valerie Lee says LTA has marked bicycle path behind Loyang Avenue bus stop to steer cyclists away from commuters
Changi division Member of Parliament (MP) Valerie Lee recently announced that a bicycle path behind a Loyang Avenue bus stop has now been clearly marked.
The update comes months after Ms Lee raised residents’ concerns about cyclists riding through the bus stop and jostling for space with commuters.

Residents raised concerns about cyclists riding through Loyang Avenue bus stop
Ms Lee made her political debut in the 2025 General Election (GE2025) and won a seat as part of the People’s Action Party (PAP) team in Pasir Ris-Changi GRC.
After taking charge of the Changi division, she said one of the first pieces of feedback she received concerned the ‘Opp Blk 149A’ bus stop along Loyang Avenue.

Cyclists travelling along the route would pass through the bus stop area, where they shared space with waiting commuters.
Residents were particularly concerned about cyclists coming downhill and having to jostle for space with pedestrians, which they felt posed a safety risk.
LTA creates bicycle path behind bus stop, but some cyclists still ride through
On 26 May, Ms Lee announced that the Land Transport Authority (LTA) had completed enhancement works in the area, including a new bicycle path behind the bus stop, which she hoped would “allow cyclists to avoid punching through the bus stop” and reduce the risk of accidents.

Her video showed a newly paved concrete path running behind the bus stop, although it did not yet have markings directing cyclists onto it.
Ms Lee said LTA had faced “technical difficulties” in implementing the path due to underground services.
However, when she visited the area after its completion, she noticed that some cyclists were still riding through the bus stop instead of using the new path.
She subsequently asked LTA to make the bicycle path more obvious.

Months later, on 19 Sept, Ms Lee shared an update showing that the bicycle path had been more clearly marked.

Her photo showed blue dotted lines directing cyclists around the back of the Loyang Avenue bus stop.
“Towards a safer commuting experience for our Pasir Ris-Changi residents,” she wrote.
One netizen welcomed the improvement, adding that it was now up to both pedestrians and cyclists to “play their part”.
