IKEA Alexandra launches new gaming furniture collab with Xbox, with free activities on 3 and 4 Oct
When you think of IKEA, your mind probably goes straight to its famous Swedish meatballs, flat-pack furniture, and labyrinthine showrooms that leave you wanting to go home and do some serious redecorating.
But on 3 and 4 Oct, the furniture giant’s Alexandra store is turning into a gaming playground, with free family-friendly activities, tournaments, a pro gamer challenge, and S$1,000 in IKEA vouchers up for grabs.

It’s all happening alongside the launch of YXSTABY, IKEA’s new nine-piece home gaming collection created in collaboration with Xbox, which visitors can try out in person before deciding if any pieces deserve a spot in their setup.

If your gaming setup at home currently looks like a tangle of cables and controllers flung everywhere, YXSTABY is designed to make everything feel a little more put together.
The nine-piece collection launches in IKEA stores from today (2 Oct), ahead of its online release on 8 Oct, with purchases limited to two pieces per item, per customer in-store.
It spans furniture, storage, and accessories that slot more naturally into everyday living spaces, rather than looking like they belong exclusively in a dedicated gaming room.

Among them are a TV stand on castors, lounge chair, monitor stand, side table on castors, controller display box, laptop support with storage, and controller platter.

Several take fun cues from Xbox’s recognisable controller design, including a thumbstick-inspired stool and D-pad cushion. The platter also borrows from the D-pad, scaling its familiar shape up into a stainless-steel decorative piece.

Even the name gets in on it: YXSTABY contains the familiar Y, X, A, and B buttons found on an Xbox controller, while sounding suitably like an exotic Swedish word.
And despite the branding, you don’t actually need an Xbox, or even need to be much of a gamer, to find a use for the range.
The monitor stand can just as easily neaten up a PC or WFH setup, with storage underneath and hooks for headphones, while the side table doubles as a movable charging station or an everyday living room piece.

The display box and platter can also be used to show off non-gaming-related collectibles, from figurines and trinkets to whatever other little treasures you can fit inside.
Challenge a pro gamer or battle it out for S$1,000 in IKEA vouchers
And if you want to see how the whole setup comes together before deciding what works for your own home, the free activities at IKEA Alexandra on 3 and 4 Oct are a good chance to see the collection worked into an actual gaming space.
For a casual warm-up, the Family Gaming Room will be open from 12pm to 7pm on both days, where friends and families can team up for dance, fitness, and puzzle games. Sessions will be time-limited so more visitors get a chance to play.

Once you’ve warmed up, things get a little more competitive.
From 1pm to 7pm, visitors aged eight and above can jump into 1v1 Quick Match Tournaments, with their results feeding into an overall leaderboard.

The top player will win a S$1,000 IKEA Gift Card, while participants will receive a limited-edition GÖTEHULT tote bag, a playful take on IKEA’s iconic blue carrier with a print inspired by its maze-like store layout.
From 2 to 4 Oct, IKEA Family members can also redeem the bag with a S$35 spend at the Swedish Food Market, limited to the first 50 redemptions per day at each store, or buy it in-store for S$1.90.

And if topping the leaderboard still isn’t enough of a challenge, there’s one more way to put your skills to the test.
From 5pm to 7pm on both days, visitors aged 13 and above can go head-to-head with Singapore gaming and tech creator CrazNeax in Valorant and see just how good they really are at the game.

Win S$200 in prizes at the cosplay challenge on 4 Oct
Sharp aim and quick reflexes aren’t the only things that could earn you bragging rights that weekend. Your cosplay game could score you prizes, too.
From 2pm to 6pm on 4 Oct, cosplayers can suit up as their favourite Xbox character, complete photo missions around IKEA Alexandra, and share their shots on social media while tagging @ikeasingapore.
The Best Dressed Cosplayer will take home a S$100 IKEA Gift Card and a beauty hamper worth S$100, giving you S$200 worth of reasons to go all out with the costume.
Online sign-ups close at 5pm on 3 Oct, though you can also register in-store from 2pm to 5pm on 4 Oct.
