When a Mercedes car caught fire in Sengkang on Friday (2 Oct), a netizen was heartened to see several passers-by come to the rescue armed with fire extinguishers.

Footage of the incident she posted on Instagram showed the bonnet of the car engulfed in flames.

According to the video, the original poster (OP) was in a bus on the way home when a car in front caught fire and stopped at a bus stop.

Fire involved engine compartment of car in Sengkang

In response to queries from MS News, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the fire at about 7.55pm on 2 Oct.

It took place along Sengkang East Road and involved the engine compartment of a car.

The blaze was extinguished by SCDF using a water jet, with no injuries reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
