No injuries reported after Mercedes car catches fire along Sime Underpass
A Mercedes-Benz car caught fire along the Sime Underpass on Saturday (26 Sept), causing the road to be shut down.
An image posted by SG Road Vigilante on Facebook showed the luxury car engulfed in flames next to the road shoulder of the underpass, which runs beneath Lornie Highway.

Mercedes emits fire & smoke at Sime Underpass
In a video shared by the same Facebook page, flames were seen coming from the sides of the Mercedes C-Class, while its front appeared unscathed for the time being.

However, a lot of smoke was being produced from its bonnet, which then created a large plume that dissipated into the air above.
Crackling sounds were also heard from the inferno.

No other vehicles were seen during the 30-second clip.
Sime Underpass closed due to fire
In a post on X, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said at 6.42pm that an accident had occurred along the Sime Underpass towards Lornie Highway.
This resulted in the closure of the underpass, it added.

Mercedes fire extinguished by SCDF
In response to queries from MS News, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the fire at about 4.55pm on Saturday.
It took place along the Sime Underpass in the direction of Lornie Highway, and involved a car.
SCDF extinguished the fire using a water jet and a hosereel, with no injuries reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
