4 abandoned baby rabbits die after rescue, NParks appeals for witnesses to the case
The National Parks Board (NParks) stated that four of the baby rabbits abandoned on the Seletar roadside have tragically died after their rescue.
Voices For Animals (VFA) said that the others are still in shaky health, including two other kits which died shortly after birth.

Previously, MS News reported that 23 rabbits were abandoned on Seletar Farmway 1 on the night of 18 and 19 Sept.

They consisted of 16 adults and seven kits, or recently born babies.
On 22 Sept, NParks confirmed with MS News that they received feedback on the abandoned rabbits.
The Animal and Veterinary Service (AVS) worked with VFA and a veterinary team from The Animal Doctors to conduct a medical assessment.
The rabbits were found to have health issues, including overgrown nails and skin conditions, while some also had wounds. As of 22 Sept, four out of the seven rescued kits have died.

NParks said that they are currently investigating the case.

Mother rabbit gives birth to three babies during vet check, two die
Mr Derrick Tan elaborated on the conditions of the 23 rescued rabbits with MS News.

“The 16 adults are doing okay, just the seven kits are not really doing well. Every day they just deteriorate [and] four kits passed away,” he explained.
Additionally, he alleged that one of the adult rabbits “gave birth suddenly during the vet check”.
Mr Tan said that two of the new kits have died while another one is still alive.

He stated that the priority is currently the rabbits’ recovery. VFA will hold off on putting them up for adoption until they are medically ready.
Mr Tan thanked AVS, The Animal Doctors, and dog daycare centre Rock N Ruff for coming together with VFA to help the abandoned rabbits.

Local volunteer groomers to help rescued rabbits
“At this present moment, all the essential supplies for the bunnies have been covered by my friends and me,” Mr Tan wrote on 21 Sept.
In the same post, he appealed for professional rabbit groomers to help with the rescued animals.

Since then, volunteers from the House Rabbits Society Singapore (HRSS) and Bunny Wonderland have stepped up to fulfil the request.
Mr Tan told MS News on 23 Sept that volunteers would be grooming the rabbits this Sunday.
For now, let’s give these little ones the time, care and space they need to heal.
