Fire broke out in master bedroom of flat: MP
In a Facebook post on Thursday afternoon, Ang Mo Kio GRC MP Victor Lye said the fire had broken out in the master bedroom of the flat.
A photo he shared showed the exterior walls blackened by the fire and part of the void deck and foot of the block still cordoned off.

He thanked SCDF for arriving at the scene promptly and putting out the fire.
While cleaners are clearing the debris, the smoke will linger “for a while”, he added.
Neighbour led 3 people out of burning flat
Mr Lye also noted that an Institute of Technical Education (ITE) student, who lived next door to the affected flat, had saved the day.
When the fire broke out, he rushed over with a fire extinguisher and led three people out of the burning flat.
The resident conveyed to the hospital was an elderly man who suffered cuts on his feet, the MP revealed.
He has since been discharged.
Affected family decides to stay with neighbours
The affected family could have temporarily stayed at the Residents’ Network centre, which was opened for them, Mr Lye.
However, they decided to stay with their neighbour instead, he said, adding:
It’s touching to see two families from different races, one sheltering the other without hesitation. Great kampung spirit!
