Chew Poh Yim, Wife Of Teo Chee Hean, Passes Away Aged 67
Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean is a veteran in politics, having served as an MP since at least 1992 and deputising as caretaker Prime Minister on numerous occasions.
On 3 Nov, The Straits Times (ST) reported that Ms Chew Poh Yim, Mr Teo’s wife, passed away peacefully aged 67 on Sunday (31 Oct), leaving behind Mr Teo and a son and daughter.
Ms Chew also served in the public sector for numerous years and taught part-time at Nanyang Polytechnic.
In 2015, she founded Stroke Support Station (S3), a charity that supports stroke survivors.

Ms Chew founded S3 after she realised that there was a need for more community support for stroke survivors to reintegrate back into society.
She served as director and chairman of S3.
A graduate of the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology in 1977, she had in excess of 25 years’ experience in management, marketing and branding in the consumer and retail market.
According to ST, she held various roles in NTUC FairPrice.
She was also the 10th president of Girl Guides Singapore for 8 years, stepping down in 2007.
Ms Chew would often accompany Senior Minister Teo on official visits to other countries.

As S3 founder, Ms Chew helped fill a gap in society by supporting stroke victims in their reintegration.
It’s commendable and highlights a desire to serve a community that may sometimes be overlooked.
