Hundreds of cigarette butts littered on grass and footpath south of Woodlands MRT station
The anonymous user shared their views on the Facebook group Complaint Singapore on 4 Oct.
There, they shared photos and a video of a stretch of dry grass outside Woodlands MRT station’s Exit 2, on the south side.
Right at the kerb where the grass patch met a footpath, people had littered hundreds of cigarette butts.
They covered much of the grass’ edge, with dozens seen on the footpath itself.

“Is it [that] Woodlands town has no law, why outside MRT station can have cigarette butt buffet?” the Original Poster (OP) complained.
They further claimed that it was very smelly too, and that travelling to the mall or the MRT station meant smelling secondhand smoke.
“See the cigarette butt like that throw, later fire how? Lawless and selfish behaviour!” The OP continued.

NEA aware of concerns in Woodlands, issued over 200 fines
The National Environment Agency (NEA) told MS News that they are aware of cleanliness concerns around Woodlands MRT station and Causeway Point.
Since 1 January 2026, NEA has issued more than 200 fines for littering and smoking offences in the area.
NEA stated that they continue to maintain “regular enforcement patrols” in the vicinity.
“Beyond enforcement, the area is cleaned regularly, and litter bins are also available in the vicinity for proper disposal of waste,” an NEA spokesperson told MS News.

Additionally, Causeway Point mall management has set up designated smoking points with cigarette butt disposal receptacles.
NEA warned that littering is an offence that can be punished with a fine of up to S$2,000 for the first conviction.
They further encouraged members of the public to report public health offences through the OneService app.
