Construction Worker Dies After Falling From Roof In Tuas
A 36-year-old Bangladeshi construction worker passed away in a workplace accident in Tuas on Sunday (22 Oct).
He had fallen through a skylight of a roof he was working on, said the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) conveyed the worker to the National University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
In light of this incident, the Migrant Workers’ Centre (MWC) is also providing assistance to the deceased’s family and other workers at the scene.
Construction worker was installing solar panels in Tuas
Responding to queries from MS News, an MOM spokesperson said the incident occurred on Sunday (22 Oct), at around 2pm.
The worker was installing solar panels on the rooftop of a workshop at 12 Tuas South Street 2 when he fell through a skylight, from a height of 10 metres.

According to The Straits Times (ST), the SCDF conveyed him to National University Hospital.
It was there where the 36-year-old succumbed to his injuries, the MOM spokesperson shared.
“As a general safety measure, work-at-height fall prevention measures, such as the use of travel restraint and fall arrest systems, must be communicated to the workers involved and implemented onsite.”
MOM revealed that the occupier of the worksite is Energetix Pte. Ltd. and the employer of the deceased is BBG Electrical Engineering Pte. Ltd.
The Ministry is now investigating the incident and has instructed Energetix to stop all work-at-height activities.
Migrant Workers’ Centre providing assistance to family and other workers present
The MWC also released a statement regarding this incident on Tuesday (24 Oct).
They disclosed that BBG Electrical Engineering is making arrangements for the return of the worker’s remains to his family in Bangladesh.
Currently, their primary focus is to meet the immediate needs of the worker’s family, they said.
In addition to compensation through the Work Injury Compensation Act, MWC will extend a goodwill payout from the Migrant Workers’ Assistance Fund (MWAF) in the meantime.
MWC will also offer counselling services to the other workers who were present at the scene of the incident.
