Singapore Reports 528 New Covid-19 Cases On 28 Apr, With 4 New Clusters Identified
The Ministry of Health (MOH) has reported 528 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday (28 Apr). This brings the total number of cases in Singapore to 14,951.
Of note, there are 10 community cases, with 7 involving Singaporeans or Permanent Residents (PRs), 2 on Works Passes, and 1 on a Visit Pass.
Overall, the number of new cases in the community as decreased, from an average of 28 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 17 per day in the past week.
Migrant workers make up majority of cases
The majority of cases once again consist of migrant workers living in dormitories, with Work Permit holders residing in dormitories contributing to 511 cases.
7 cases of Work Permit holders living outside of dormitories were reported.
Of the new cases, 83% are linked to known clusters, while the rest are pending contact tracing.
4 new clusters identified
MOH has also identified 4 new clusters:
- 33 Sungei Kadut Loop
- 23H Sungei Kadut Street 1
- 10 Tagore Drive
- 51H Tuas South Ave 1.
1 nurse infected, 33 patients discharged
A 24-year-old male nurse – Case 14693 – tested positive for the coronavirus. He is employed at Changi General Hospital (CGH) but has not gone to work since the onset of symptoms on Monday (27 Apr).
33 patients have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. This brings the total number of recoveries to 1,128.
1,889 cases still remain hospitalised, with 21 in critical condition.
11,920 are currently isolated and 14 have passed away from complications arising from the coronavirus.
5th straight day that cases are under 1,000
Today’s figure marks the 5th straight day that under 1,000 cases have been reported.
Not that we want to jinx it, but hopefully this means the curve is starting to flatten, and there will not be a need to further extend the ‘Circuit Breaker’ past 1 Jun.
