New Dyson travel-sized hair dryer is 32% smaller & works anywhere in the world, retails at S$399

Dyson drops new Supersonic Travel hair dryer that’s easy to bring anywhere and everywhere in the world

If you’re a frequent traveller who’s sick of battling weak hotel hair dryers that leave your hair frizzy, flat, or taking forever to dry, this might just earn a permanent spot in your suitcase.

Tech giant Dyson has released a compact version of its game-changing Supersonic hair dryer, designed for people who want to keep their styling routine intact even when they’re halfway across the world.

Built to fix overseas compatibility issues

The move comes in response to a common frustration among users: many loved their Dyson hair dryers, but found they couldn’t actually use them overseas.

First introduced a decade ago, the original Dyson Supersonic quickly built a reputation for its fast drying and controlled heat.

But bringing that same experience abroad wasn’t always straightforward.

Different voltages meant the device often wouldn’t work in other countries, while its full-sized design made it less than ideal for packing.

That left many travellers with little choice but to rely on hotel hair dryers instead, often underpowered, overly hot, and unable to deliver the same styling results.

Not exactly a big help when you’re trying to look put-together for your holiday fit checks.

Supersonic Travel hair dryer is 32% smaller and 25% lighter

The new Supersonic Travel hair dryer is Dyson’s answer to that trade-off.

It’s 32% smaller and 25% lighter than the original, weighing about the same as a can of soda, so it slips easily into handbags, carry-ons, or cabin luggage without taking up precious space.

And it’s not just for major trips. It’s just as handy for local staycations, gym sessions, or quick weekend getaways across the Causeway.

This isn’t merely a scaled-down version of the original, by the way. As founder James Dyson put it:

We didn’t just shrink a dryer, we re-engineered it for travel.

In other words, despite its smaller size, Dyson hasn’t compromised on what made the original popular.

The dryer uses intelligent heat control that measures air temperature up to 100 times per second, helping to prevent extreme heat damage while keeping hair smooth and shiny.

The airflow is also engineered for fast, even drying, so you’re not stuck spending extra time in front of the mirror, especially when you’d rather be out exploring or getting some rest before another day of travel.

That travel-first approach carries through to how it’s built to actually work wherever you go.

The device comes with automatic universal voltage, meaning it adapts to different countries without any switches or converters, while still delivering full performance.

It comes with a smoothing nozzle attachment by default, but those who want more styling flexibility can purchase additional attachments separately, including a diffuser, wide tooth comb, styling concentrator, flyaway smoother, and gentle air attachment.

Good news if you already own a Dyson Supersonic or Supersonic Nural: the travel version is compatible with those existing attachments, so you won’t need to start your styling routine from scratch.

The dryer will be available at Dyson Demo Stores and selected retail partners, with pop-up experiences planned where shoppers can try it out for themselves before committing.
