Electricity tariff to fall 10.4% from October, four-room HDB households to save S$12.99 a month
Singapore households will pay less for electricity from October to December, with the regulated electricity tariff falling by 10.4% from the previous quarter.
The overall tariff will decrease by 3.32 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh), from 31.91 cents to 28.59 cents before GST.

Including 9% GST, this works out to about 31.16 cents/kWh.
SP Group announced the revision on Wednesday (30 Sept), attributing the decrease to lower energy costs.
Four-room HDB households to see S$12.99 monthly drop
The average monthly electricity bill for families living in HDB four-room flats will decrease by S$12.99 before GST.
The overall electricity tariff, including rates for non-household consumers, will fall by an average of 10.6%, or 3.32 cents/kWh.
SP Group reviews electricity tariffs every quarter according to guidelines set by the Energy Market Authority (EMA).
The energy cost component for each quarter is based on average natural gas prices during the first two and a half months of the preceding quarter.

For the October to December period, the tariff reflects lower natural gas prices recorded between 1 July and 15 Sept.
SP Group said global fuel prices have risen since September amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
Should higher fuel prices persist, electricity tariffs could increase in the following quarter.
Several open-market plans are below the new regulated tariff
Households can also choose to buy electricity from retailers in Singapore’s Open Electricity Market instead of remaining on SP Group’s regulated tariff.
Several plans cited from retailer websites are priced below the new regulated rate of 31.16 cents/kWh including GST.
Geneco’s Get It Fixed 24 plan is listed at 29.00 cents/kWh including GST, with the rate fixed for 24 months.
Keppel Electric’s FIXED24 plan is listed at 29.00 cents/kWh including GST, while its 36-month FIXED36 plan is listed at 29.40 cents/kWh.
Tuas Power Supply lists its PowerFIX 24 plan at 29.80 cents/kWh including GST, with a 24-month fixed rate.

Sembcorp Power’s 24-month fixed plan is listed at 29.80 cents/kWh including GST, while its 12-month plan is 31.00 cents/kWh.
Senoko Energy similarly lists its LifePower36 plan at 29.40 cents/kWh, LifePower24 at 29.80 cents/kWh and LifePower12 at 31.00 cents/kWh, all including GST.
Retail plans can have different contract periods, rebates, termination conditions and pricing structures, so the headline rate alone does not represent the total cost for every household.
Fixed-rate plans remain unchanged throughout the contract period.
Town gas tariff also falling
Households using piped town gas will also see a reduction from 1 Oct.
City Energy said its general town gas tariff will fall by 2.03 cents/kWh, or 8.6%, from 23.48 cents to 21.45 cents/kWh before GST.
Including 9% GST, the revised rate will be 23.38 cents/kWh.

The new tariff will apply from 1 Oct to 31 Dec.
City Energy said the reduction is due to lower fuel costs compared with the previous quarter.
Like electricity tariffs, town gas tariffs are reviewed every quarter according to EMA guidelines.
The fuel cost component is based on average fuel prices during the first two and a half months of the preceding quarter.
However, City Energy also warned that global fuel prices have risen since September due to escalating tensions in the Middle East.
If this continues, town gas tariffs could rise in the next quarter.

Electricity tariffs have fluctuated sharply in 2026
The latest reduction comes after a significant increase in the previous quarter.
From 1 July to 30 Sept, the household electricity tariff rose by 17%, or 4.64 cents/kWh, before GST, because of higher energy costs. The average monthly bill for an HDB four-room flat increased by S$17.14 before GST.
SP Group said electricity tariffs are reviewed quarterly because energy costs can fluctuate with global fuel prices.
The electricity tariff comprises energy costs, network costs, the Market Support Services Fee, and the Market Administration and Power System Operation Fee.
