Fire involved 200m by 200m patch of vegetation along Gali Batu Close
A patch of vegetation that caught fire in Sungei Kadut on Monday (7 Sept) night was put out by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), with no infrastructure damaged.
Footage posted on Facebook showed the flames covering a large area of the hillside just behind the Gali Batu Depot.

Fire lights up night sky, seen from Yew Tee
In the clip, which was taken from Block 692B Choa Chu Kang Crescent, the flashing lights of possible emergency vehicles could be seen along the road.

Another video posted on XiaoHongShu revealed that the blaze could be seen from several blocks in Yew Tee Village.

It appeared to be burning dangerously close to Gali Batu Depot, which houses maintenance, operation and support facilities for the MRT’s Downtown Line.

Besides a large, lengthy area close to the depot, there were also other smaller patches that were alight, including one several metres away from the main fire.

Fire confined to hillside near Gali Batu Depot
In a Facebook post early on Tuesday (8 Sept) morning, Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC MP Alex Yam said some of his residents had reported seeing smoke and flames at about 7pm.
The fire had spread across almost 400 square metres of hillside, but was confined to the vegetation east of Gali Batu Depot, he noted.
No damage was caused to infrastructure at the depot, and the smoke did not affect the Yew Tee area due to the prevailing winds.
He promised more updates as the information comes in.
Gali Batu Depot, which opened in 2015, is operated by SBS Transit.

No injuries reported: SCDF
In response to queries from MS News, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the fire at about 6.50pm on Monday.
It involved a patch of vegetation measuring about 200m by 200m along Gali Batu Close.
SCDF put it out using three water jets, with no injuries reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
3rd vegetation fire in 5 days
This is the third vegetation fire reported in five days, after an open field in Bukit Panjang caught fire on 3 Sept and was put out by the SCDF.
The day after that, a fire broke out at a grass patch near a heavy vehicle carpark in Seletar, with firefighters seen attending to it.
