67-year-old male driver assisting police investigations into 6-vehicle accident in Geylang East
A 67-year-old male car driver was sent to the hospital on Friday (14 Aug) afternoon after an accident involving six vehicles in Geylang East.
A photo of the aftermath posted in Threads showed that the accident vehicles blocked all three lanes of the road, causing it to be shut down.

Car crashes into lamppost, 4 others hit one another
Footage posted in a Telegram chat group for motorists showed that a silver car had apparently collided into the back of a white car in the centre lane, just before a road junction.

Behind, a silver car facing against the flow of traffic in the far-left lane had crashed into a lamppost, knocking it askew.

Next to it were two cars that had stopped across the centre and far-right turning lanes after having crashed into each other.
One of the cars, a sport-utility vehicle (SUV), was facing against the flow of traffic.

The SUV’s door was open, and it was observed to have sustained damage to its front.

A few metres back, a motorcycle lay on its side in the far-right lane.

An ambulance was also at the scene and was parked at the traffic juction.
Part of Geylang East Central closed due to accident
In a post on X, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said at 6.33pm that an accident had occurred along Geylang East Central in the direction towards Geylang East Avenue 2, after Paya Lebar Road.
It led to the closure of a section of Geylang East Central after Paya Lebar Road.

The Threads user who shared the photo said traffic was “really congested” after 6pm and motorists had to turn back due to the blockage.

Male driver sent to CGH, assisting with investigations
In response to queries from MS News, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said was alerted to the accident at about 5.55pm on 14 Aug.
It took place at the junction of Geylang East Central and Geylang East Avenue 2 in the direction of Sims Drive, and involved five cars and a motorcycle.
A 67-year-old male car driver was sent to the hospital in a conscious state.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), which was alerted at the same time, told MS News that he was conveyed to Changi General Hospital.
He is also assisting with police investigations, which are ongoing.
