Gacha game ‘Love and Deepspace’ shares cocktail recipes which include poisonous ingredients
Gacha game “Love and Deepspace” got a little too immersive on Tuesday (29 Sept) when its social media pages began sharing cocktail recipes made especially for its characters, which included poisonous ingredients deadly to humans.
The mobile game, developed by China-based company Papergames, is an “otome game” that primarily targets a female audience and features a massive cast of handsome men all vying for the player’s attention.
A deadly recipe for love
On their X page, Love and Deepspace shared three recipes and even asked fans to share what their “secret ingredient” would be. The incentive for commenting was simple. Players would be awarded in-game currency.

The post quickly received attention, though not for the reasons the game had hoped. Within hours, a community note appeared flagging that it contained recipes dangerous to humans.

“Flame Lily and Datura listed as garnishes are extremely poisonous. All parts can cause severe poisoning or death if ingested. Do not use in real drinks,” the note read.
According to Gosu Gamer, the two ingredients were listed for lore reasons tied to the video game characters.
Company addresses problems
The post went viral, racking up over 4 million views and 2,200 comments, most of them warning others about the dangers.
On Reddit, many commenters speculated that the post was made with generative AI and lacked real oversight.

About 24 hours after the original post, Love and Deepspace made a follow-up post warning fans about the potential dangers of what they had just posted.
“All drinks shown are fictional and for in-game purposes only. Do not attempt to recreate or consume them in reality,” the safety notice read.
