Speaking to Shin Min Daily News, a witness described the assailant as a man who looked to be nearly 40 years old.

He also had a strong build and was about 1.8m tall.

For some unknown reason, the man allegedly followed a cleaner into a restroom and began interfering with the latter’s work.

It’s believed that the cleaner then confronted the man by pushing him out of anger.

This upset the man, and a fight broke out between them.

They subsequently shoved each other towards the area outside the restroom.

At that time, a group of people were exercising nearby and heard the quarrel unfold.

Five of them came over to break up the fight, but the man ended up assaulting them as well.

The victims of the assault were two men and four women, Shin Min Daily News confirmed. A witness added that they were “not young”.

Describing the scene as chaotic, the witness said that the women screamed and fled the scene in a panic.

A few male passers-by later came over to help, knocking the man to the ground and subduing him.

One of them called the police, who arrived and placed the man under arrest.

Medical personnel attended to the wounded victims, sending the cleaner to the hospital as he had sustained injuries to his left arm.

Speaking to Shin Min Daily News, one of the injured people, 86-year-old Mr Chen, said he knew the cleaner as he had assisted in repairing his bicycle when it broke down.

When Mr Chen arrived at the park that morning, he saw the man kicking and beating the cleaner, who is in his 70s.

He stopped to help but was attacked as well, suffering a hit to his head with his bicycle getting knocked down.

“Although I was scared, I didn’t want to see anything happen to the cleaner,” Mr Chen shared.

Thankfully, he added that he’s fine now after a bit of rest.
