SCDF retrieves man found floating unconscious in Rochor Canal along Bukit Timah Road
A 57-year-old man died on Sunday (23 Aug) night after he was retrieved unconscious from the Rochor Canal.

Police block 1 lane of road next to Rochor Canal
The image was shared under a video uploaded by a passing motorist, which showed the far-right lane of Bukit Timah Road blocked by the police just before the Wayang Satu Flyover that goes above Stevens Road.

Several police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) vehicles had stopped on both sides of the road, with officers and paramedics seen peering into the canal.

A crowd of curious onlookers had also gathered on the pavement outside Alocassia Apartments.

Amid all this was a blue tent standing on the road just next to the kerb.

Police & SCDF called after man seen floating unconscious in Rochor Canal
In response to queries from MS News, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said it received a call for assistance at about 7.25pm on 23 Aug.
SCDF told MS News that it was alerted to a water rescue incident at about 7.45pm, and was deployed to the Rochor Canal near the Wayang Satu Flyover.
When SCDF arrived, a 57-year-old man was seen floating unconscious in the canal.
Rescuers brought him out after using a ladder to climb into the canal.
Man sent to hospital unconscious
The man was sent to the hospital in an unconscious state, SPF said.
An SCDF ambulance conveyed him to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
However, he subsequently passed away.
No foul play is suspected by the police, based on preliminary investigations.
Police investigations are ongoing.
