Orange cat clinging to moving car roof in Malaysia sparks mixed reactions online
Last month, a clip of a frightened orange cat clinging to dear life on top of a moving car went viral.
Since it was posted on TikTok on 20 Aug, it has garnered over 4.3 million views and over 4,000 comments.
The clip has left netizens divided, with some laughing at the cat’s expressions while others felt like it was not a laughing matter.
Cat rescued after passer-by spots it on car
In the clip, a Myvi car could be seen driving on the road fairly quickly. An orange cat could also be seen on top of the moving vehicle.
To keep itself from being flung off, the feline kept itself hunched down and close to the roof of the car, with its fur fluttering violently in the wind.

The cat was seen expressing distress as the passer-by recording the situation came alongside the vehicle.
While the passer-by tried to get the attention of the Myvi driver, the cat meowed several times in an attempt to seek assistance.

Eventually, the Myvi driver noticed and brought his vehicle to a stop. The feline continued to meow even as the car was at a standstill.
The clip then ended with the driver exiting his vehicle and lifting the cat off the roof with both hands.

Not a laughing matter
One of the top comments on the clip, which garnered over 51,000 likes, said that although it was sad, the cat’s face was funny.
Many of the replies agreed, with one commenter even saying that it was alright because the cat has nine lives.

However, some commenters were less than amused.
One netizen said the clip was “not funny”. The reaction prompted a flurry of comments, with some calling the netizen names.

It was unclear whether the cat belonged to the driver, as well as how it ended up on the vehicle.
