Passenger slammed for complaining that AirAsia stewardess refused to lift luggage into compartment

Passenger slammed for complaint about AirAsia stewardess who didn’t help with luggage

On Sunday (25 Oct), a disgruntled passenger complained that an AirAsia flight stewardess refused to help her lift her luggage into the overhead bins on a domestic flight in Thailand.

She accused the cabin crew member of lacking empathy, stating she just had surgery and needed assistance.

In her Facebook post, which has garnered over 3,000 comments, the woman described the incident as the “worst airline customer service [she has] ever encountered”.

Flight attendant allegedly refused to help twice

According to the passenger, the flight attendant was standing in front of her seat and rearranging luggage in the overhead bins at the time.

“Since she was already there, I politely asked whether she could help me place my bag overhead,” she shared.

The stewardess allegedly replied, “Customers are responsible for their own belongings.”

The woman said she told the flight attendant twice that she was recovering from a recent surgery.

However, the stewardess also allegedly refused to help her twice.

Passenger disappointed by stewardess’ “lack of empathy”

The passenger’s friend eventually stepped in to help her place the luggage into the overhead compartment.

The woman said what disappointed her most was not the stewardess’ refusal to help her, but her “complete lack of empathy”.

“I understand that airlines have policies concerning passengers’ hand luggage and that cabin crew must also consider their own safety,” she wrote.

“But surely there is a difference between enforcing a policy and responding with compassion to someone who has explained that they are recovering from surgery?”

The woman also went on to say she would have appreciated a “courteous explanation or an attempt to find another solution”.

Netizens slam passenger for complaint

The experience soured the woman’s view of the airline’s customer service.

She also hoped she would not see the stewardess again on her return flight on 1 Nov, adding that she would be filing a complaint with AirAsia over the incident.

In response to her post, several commenters explained that cabin crew are not required to assist passengers with their luggage, adding that it may be unsafe to do so.

Some shared alternative solutions to her issue, such as notifying the airline beforehand that she needed assistance due to medical reasons or simply checking her luggage.

Because the woman included the stewardess’s name tag in one of the photos, some netizens warned that she may face legal repercussions.
