Englishman signs one-year deal, becomes S-League’s highest profile name
It’s finally done.
We’ve wondered about the financial details, but Jermaine Pennant has really, finally signed for S-League side Tampines Rovers.
The contract signing took place at the Komoco Motors Showroom on Tuesday (19 Jan) morning, in front of a packed media turnout.
Pennant has played in London, Liverpool, Zaragoza, and Pune, but this was probably the first time the man has ever been unveiled at a car showroom.
And it was also probably the first time he’s been given a car while putting pen to paper.

Yep, former Tampines Rovers striker Noh Alam Shah was on hand to present Pennant with the sponsored vehicle, which seems like a nice touch.
You know, with the whole handing the baton over and all.
Until you realize that Noh Alam Shah could have put that car to good use in his day job as a GrabCar driver.
Ouch.
He speaks Singlish too!
To prove Pennant’s true assimilation into local culture, he demonstrated that one essential skill everybody who visits Singapore must possess.
He spoke Singlish.

Welcome to Singapore, Mr Pennant — we’re probably the only country you’ve played in that insults the referee by calling him a block of wood.
Good luck with your stint at Tampines Rovers. We certainly hope you can breathe some much-needed life into the S-League.
