“Legalised” rape meeting on 6 Feb called off at the last minute
Rape is, of course, not legal in most countries, including Singapore.
However, a pro-rape advocate Daryush Valizadeh, also known as Roosh V, was planning an international meeting at 65 global meeting spots in 43 countries on 6 Feb, including Singapore.
Despite not actually appearing, Roosh V wanted to hold the mass meeting for heterosexual men who are pro-rape advocates at Fort Canning.
Fortunately yesterday (3 Feb), he announced that the global mass meet up on 6 Feb is cancelled.
Roosh V and the reasons he is controversial
Roosh V is a misogynistic pick-up artist who was born in the United States. A pick-up artist refers to a movement where a group of men aims to seduce and have sexual success with or access to women.

Thus far, Roosh V has fifteen self-published books and most of them offer advice to men on how to pick up, and have coitus with women in specific countries.
He writes controversial articles on his blog too, such as 5 Reasons To Date A Girl With An Eating Disorder, where he teaches misogynistic men like himself how to exploit women with insecurities and how it will cost lesser to date her.
In one of the blog posts (which is no longer available), he suggested for rape to be legalised on private property and organised a mass meet up in 165 locations across 43 countries to gather men who are pro-rape advocates.
Reasons Roosh V cancelled his meeting
He said the international meeting was cancelled because “The world is moving against us. I’ve gotten reports of over a dozen organized protests at our meeting points. Dozens more are being organized privately.”
Of course, he could not privatize all the meetings in time and even said “I can no longer guarantee the safety or privacy of the men who want to attend on February 6.”

It appears that Roosh V is avoiding a scene like this but golly, how can a masculine man like himself not possess any power to handle such scenarios?
Roosh V came up with a solution to stop rape

“Make rape legal if done on private property.”

However, with obvious biological reasons, a female is quite likely to succumb to a male’s brawn when violently taken.
The issue here is not that a female is not protecting her own body but men attempting to use strength against the physically weaker gender.
Following his logic, murder should be made legal on private properties as well. Right?
Roosh V on how he sees women
He believes that “men should be masculine and women should be feminine” and that a woman’s value significantly depends on her fertility and beauty, while that of a man’s depends on his resources, intellect, and character.
In one of his blogpost, Women Who Say I Hate Women, he wrote” After I read the opinion of a girl… I snoop around to see if I can find photos of her. If she’s pretty, then I may consider the points she raised, but if she’s not someone that I would bang, I safely disregard everything she said”.
Regarding raping of a female, he said “By attempting to teach men not to rape, what we have actually done is teach women not to care about being raped, not to protect themselves from easily preventable acts, and not to take responsibility for their actions.”

Besides the fact that he just openly declared himself as a major stalker, what he is essentially saying is: people who are victims of robbery should learn to not care about being robbed.

News of this meeting caused quite a stir online as women as well as men in Singapore were afraid that this meeting might really take place.

Not to worry, our Singapore Police Force (SPF) has reminded the public that it is illegal to organise or participate in a public assembly without a police permit. “Legalised” rape in Singapore is still far from reality.

A learning lesson for everybody
Even though Roosh V chickened out in the end and called off his mass meeting everyone should still be on their guard because this is not the first time such issues have surfaced.
In Nov 2014, US-based dating coach and self-proclaimed pick-up artist Julien Blanc was barred from entering Singapore to conduct his seminars as materials from his courses contain tactics suggesting physical violence, intimidation and emotional abuse against women to persuade them to have sex.
Most importantly, we are still not quite sure why Roosh V is so obsessed with women with certain looks to want to advocate pro-rape to this extent.

In his blog post 5 Reasons To Date A Girl With An Eating Disorder, he wrote “While obesity is, in most cases, also an “eating disorder,” this list doesn’t apply to emotional eaters, food addicts, and fatties with no self control.”
Which leads us to wonder, why can’t Roosh V and his fellow tribesmen have any self-control over their sexual urges?
