Driver ‘accidentally’ receives parking fee of more than S$100,000, system claims he parked for ’20 years’
Recently, a netizen came across a puzzling sight when exiting a carpark in River Valley.
The gantry showed a parking fee of over S$100,000 with a parking time of 7204 days.
That’s essentially the system stating that the vehicle was parked for almost 20 years. The netizen saw the funny side of the system glitch and opted to share the experience online.

Charged a fee of over S$100,000
Last Friday (25 Sept), the Original Poster (OP) shared a picture of a carpark gantry on r/singapore.
They mentioned that the car was parked in River Valley near their child’s school.
The OP claimed they parked for five minutes within the grace period, which should allow them to leave without charge.
However, the gantry ended up displaying a shocking parking fee of S$100,870 along with a total parking time of 7204 days, 22 hours and 51 minutes.

In response, the OP joked that they “accidentally parked for 20 years”.
Called hotline for assistance
According to the OP, they later dialled the hotline for help.
The hotline agent told them that the system did not detect their IU going in, even though the OP said the gantry opened.
The OP added that they were lucky that the gantry did not debit their cash card.
Netizens joked that COE has been extended
The system glitch amused netizens, who “praised” the OP for extending their Certificate of Entitlement (COE) via the gantry.
Many netizens cheekily pointed out that, with that amount of money charged, the OP could renew their COE.
