SBS Transit bus captain commended by passenger after he remembered her stop and guided her to Radin Mas destination
An SBS Transit bus captain has been praised for going the extra mile after helping a passenger find her way to Radin Mas.
SBS Transit shared the story of Bus Captain Alvin Wong in a Facebook post on Wednesday (30 Sept), saying he has been a bus captain for 11 years.
The passenger had earlier shared her appreciation for Alvin in a Facebook group on 18 Sept.

She said she was unsure whether Service 124 would take her to her destination when she boarded at HarbourFront Interchange.
After asking Alvin, he assured her that the bus was heading towards Radin Mas.
She also told him which block she was looking for.

Bus captain remembered passenger’s stop
According to SBS Transit, Alvin noticed that the passenger seemed unsure of where she was going.
He told her he would let her know when it was time to alight.
True to his word, Alvin alerted her when the bus approached the stop near Radin Mas Primary School.
He also gave her directions on how to walk to her destination.
The passenger had highlighted the same gesture in her Facebook post.
“What touched me the most was when my stop was coming,” she wrote.
He alerted her regarding her stop, saying “the next one is [mine]”.
She said Alvin had welcomed passengers with a smile despite appearing tired.

She also noticed him checking his mirror to ensure passengers were seated properly and safely.
“It may sound like a very small thing, but sometimes these little acts of kindness really stay with us,” she wrote.
The passenger said Alvin’s patience, smile and thoughtfulness made her journey “a little nicer”.
She ended her post by hoping her message would reach him.
‘When the passenger is happy, I’m happy too’
SBS Transit said Alvin has lived by a simple motto for 11 years: “When the passenger is happy, I’m happy too.”

Alvin said he finds the job fulfilling because he gets to help people reach their destinations.
He also shared the passenger’s compliment with his wife, who is also an SBS Transit Bus Captain.
SBS Transit said she was “proud” of him.
The company described Alvin’s actions as an example of its culture, adding that “a little kindness and a helping hand” can make a passenger’s journey easier.
