SCDF Paramedics & Ambulance Drivers Are Unsung Heroes, As They Help Send Patients For Treatment

As more and more people get infected with Covid-19, it’s all hands on deck for essential workers like healthcare workers and cleaners, who are going all out to fight the disease.

One group that also deserves our full support and admiration are those who deal with sick and infectious patients all the time, and in fact are a big reason why these patients can get the help they need in a timely manner — paramedics and ambulance drivers.

While we’re thanking our frontliners for their contributions, let’s not forget that they’re part of the group too.

Ambulance drivers & paramedics are heroes too

Mr Amrin Amin, a Member of Parliament (MP) for Sembawang GRC, highlighted the contributions of ambulance drivers in a Facebook post on Wednesday (13 May) morning.

Calling them heroes, he said he was of the opinion that these workers, whether they are from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) or private companies, “don’t get as much public recognition” given that they play a vital part in public healthcare.

He also pointed out that they and their families also make personal sacrifices that make them worthy of recognition.

They work hard during trying times

Mr Amrin said he has met a few drivers in person, and they have told him their stories.

They work hard doing their job of sending patients to places where they can be treated, like hospitals, he added.

And although these are difficult times, they do the best that they can.

Let’s not forget too that the job involves considerable danger to the drivers themselves, too.

Ambulance drivers deserve our appreciation every day

Thus, Mr Amrin said, ambulance drivers deserve appreciation and encouragement every day — we don’t need to wait for a special day to do that.

So thank you, ambulance drivers, for your hard work and dedication.

We hope the Covid-19 situation will get better soon, so you guys can get a well-deserved break soon enough.
